Creating a meaningful identity for a sensitive subject

We developed an identity and digital presence for Shame, an academic research project for Birkbeck University. Shame is often the feeling that is found at the intersection of Sexual Harm and Medical Encounters, and we captured the coming together, and the understanding and healing that the project aims to promote.

Challenge

The subject matter space is incredibly sensitive. The encounters people have can be harrowing. The project groups global research aims to understand all the issues and find ways to help elevate them. That’s why we needed to explore the space with empathy, objectivity and professionalism.

The project group needed to capture a professional perspective on the topic. The use of the plus symbol (+) combines the two core topics together, highlighting their intersection. The symbol also has a direct health visual reference that we all know well, globally.

We’re so happy with the website, we have been incredibly impressed with Playfields, and you were all amazing to work with. It has really helped us ‘level up’!
